The Seals of Yekub are the objects at the center of the main plot. The Church calls its Seal a Halidom and wants to use the Seals to open the Colossal Grave; the red-haired Witch (the same person as Teresa, inferred; see Lore) takes the one from Katib and turns toward the Blessedland. The texts never explain exactly what a Seal is, only what people believe about it.
What the game says#
| Claim | Source |
|---|---|
| A legend from Ichthyosauria says that if all three Seals are gathered, every Colossus in the world falls and the world returns to silence, after which "the true light" comes. | StoryDialog story 99 rows 2816-2817 |
| One Seal lies under the Sacred Tower in Katib; Couriers sent by Overseer Sprenger found it, and survivors came back with a mysterious illness and heard a whispering from below. | ItemData 10012, 70035; UIQuest 30511-30514 |
| It looks plain. Sprenger discovered that sand in an hourglass placed on it flows down and then back up, and grew addicted to the sight. | ItemData 70035, 70063 |
| The Church's research found that opening it requires the bloodline of the Marcions, but the Marcions had been wiped out; then a Witch claimed to be the last Marcion and offered to open it. | UIQuest 30515, 30517 |
| The Witch then took the Seal. The Colossus of Katib was drawn by its power and grew into the Sacred Tower. | UIQuest 30518, 10508 |
| Teresa took the Seal to destroy the Blessedland and make it "the next Katib", not to enter the Grave. | UIQuest 10510; StoryDialog story 5 row 1259 |
| A third-party voice says another Seal is in the Blessedland, the last one belonging to the Church, and that it is what keeps Sendrils away. | StoryDialog story 5 row 1257 |
| Proxy is said to guard the Seal day and night to keep its curse from being fulfilled. The Seal can fulfill every human desire but carries a dreadful curse. | StoryDialog story 6 rows 1667-1669 |
| Reassembled Scarlet Meteor fragments look exactly like the Church's Halidom, the Yekub Seal, which is said to be the key to the Colossal Grave. | UIQuest 10305 |
| The meteor fragment is also Terrence's only way into the Grave when the Seal and the Marcions are missing. | UIQuest 10709; StoryDialog story 7 row 1959 |
| A penitent's scroll in Ichthyosauria says the three Seals were stolen to found Samarosa, which brought a massacre, and that the broken Seal keeps the shadow and reincarnation going (Timelines#Ichthyosauria). | UIQuest 30918 |
| In the DLC true ending a speaker in the Karst Cave hands Terrence "this final Seal of Yekub" and says that guarding the Seals only prolongs a hopeless world (Endings#The DLC true ending). | StoryDialog story 7 rows 2821-2829 (DialogId 99307-99315) |
Hidden mechanics#
- A Seal item exists but is not meant to be held. ItemData 90000, named "Seal of Yekub in", has no description text and is flagged for removal in a new Journey (
GamePlusRemove = 1). Its name matches the true-ending choice "Put the Seal of Yekub in" (Endings), so it is likely a plot-event marker for that choice (inferred). - Why Sprenger's hourglass matters. Church Investigators gave important Couriers hourglasses whose sand runs when a Marcion curse is near. The Seal reverses the flow (ItemData 10012, 70035), which is why Katib's tower carries so many curses.
- The meteor fragment is removed on a new Journey along with Sword fragments and the Seal marker (New Game Plus#What carries over and what is removed; ItemData 10007, 90000;
structdata/fs_itemlist.lua:137-148).
