The Pain of Newborn

An old woman who was herself once one of the mothers keeps a pot of painkiller boiling day and night for the women in the Place of the Newborn. She cannot leave the pot, so she asks a Courier to gather the ingredients. Her dialog and model are covered on Herbalist of Adamina.

Walkthrough#

  1. Adamina Herb (log 20602). Choose "Accept" to the herb request. Collect 5 Adamina Herbs (material 70021) from the area. When you return the dialog offers "Give her Adamina Herbs" only once you really hold five; the line she gets is that it halves the work but is not enough.
  2. Living Marred Creatures (log 20603). She now wants one fresh Active Sendril (item 80011, a substance isolated from Marred corpses, item type 8). Kill Marred until one drops, return, and choose "Get her Active Sendril". She thanks you for your kindness and gives 3 Elixir of Hallucination (item 20021).

Choices#

Choosing "Refuse" is the one wrong note: she calls you an ignorant Courier for doubting the Holy Father and warns you not to make trouble. The refusal sets flag 25050; she then repeats her request on your next visit, and you can accept then.

Hidden mechanics#

  • The hand-over buttons are conditional. They only appear once a hidden "check item" flag is true (quest type 16): flag 22601 needs 5 Adamina Herbs in the bag, flag 22602 needs 1 Active Sendril. The flags test the bag, they are not set by picking up the item. The Active Sendril step cannot be satisfied early, because the second request only unlocks after the herbs have been handed in.
  • She disappears when the Holy Father dies. Her monster entry is hidden by flag 21006, so finish the line before that boss.
  • Active Sendril is a normal drop from Marred enemies (see Materials); if you already carry one before she asks, the hand-in option is available as soon as the second request opens (flag 22602 only checks the bag).
