Pascal's Wager Wiki

Glenn is the driver of the carriage that carries the heroes across the Dark Mist (the Carriage is also where the game offers the New Game Plus restart: New Game Plus#How to start a New Journey). The data model calls him simply the coachman; the dialog never labels the speaker, so tying the coachman model to the name Glenn is an inference from lines such as "Glenn always has a way" and "stay with Glenn in the carriage". The same inference applies to the Carriage shop he is thought to run (Carriage supplies#Who runs it). Besides the scenes in the Carriage hub, he stands in three chapters as an NPC whose only job is to give you a way out.

Appearances#

WhereWhat he does
Chapter 1A thought line spoken by the active hero tells Glenn he can only stay with the party if he keeps quiet. (A host whisper, not an NPC spot.)
Chapter 6, Blessedland (monster 6116)Becomes available after you answer Yes at the Higgins gate (flag 63002). He dislikes the light, says the Blessedland is falling apart, and notes that Glenn always has a way out so violence is not needed. Then he asks "Ready to go?"
Chapter 7, Karst Cave (monsters 7077 and 7078)Two spots ask "Back to the Carriage?" with Yes or No.
Chapter 9, Ichthyosauria (DLC)At the start (monster 9003) he says he thought the Courier was fish food and that he must rest because the storm will not let up; his owl will catch up with the party. A second NPC (monster 9029) asks "Leave Ichthyosauria?"

What the prompts do#

  • Chapter 6, Yes (quest 65038) runs "go to next stage" with story 99, the Carriage hub. No returns to the map with the line "there may be more clues".
  • Chapter 7, Yes (quest 75039) also loads story 99.
  • Chapter 9, Yes runs the dialog action "call carriage" with carriage id 2, which starts the carriage ride away from the DLC area.

In the base game the chapters link through the Carriage hub. Talking to Glenn is how you decide to end the current chapter, so finish side content first.

Hidden mechanics#

  • The chapter 6 prompt appears only after the Higgins gate has been answered with Yes, because its show flag 63002 is the flag that the gate sets. So Glenn is not available until the point of no return has been crossed (see Blessedland NPCs).
  • In Arcade mode (stories 1001-1007) Glenn exists in chapter 6 and chapter 7 (monsters 10060116, 1007077) with the same prompts.
  • In chapter 9 the first talk sets flag 95101; after that he only repeats two idle lines (dialogs 91009, 91010) about the storm and the pale guy the party should look for, until flag 95103 hides the spot (9003). The second spot (9029) is shown by flag 95137.
  • The chapter 6 spot (6116) is hidden again by the chapter 7 flag 75034.
