Norwood has a pile of odd items that he sells for Anthozoan Bones (the brain-like remnants left by the toughest Marred; see Currencies#Anthozoan Bones). His shop sells just six trophies, but each comes in four tiers that he moves up as you keep handing him Ancient Relics, and every New Game Plus journey raises them again. The in-game tutorial title is "Norwood's Sundries". Details of the shared rules are in Merchants.
Where to trade#
Like Viola, Norwood appears in the Carriage (monster 99003, shown from quest 25035 and hidden once quest 63018 is complete) and in Karst Cave (monster 7074, shown once quest 73002 is complete, the end of the cutscene after the Usurper's defeat: the quest comment reads "boss defeat cutscene finished" and ES_StoryMovie 88 completes it). Both menus use stock list 1903.
The Contract#
After Norwood's first conversation (quest 75050: he asks you to leave interesting finds with him) a Contract option appears. Each Contract consumes one Ancient Relic (item 10044, see Key items) and completes quest 75051, 75052 or 75053. Three Ancient Relics lie in the story (Exilium, Edith and Katib: story-item rows 3059, 4010 and 5072). A further conversation follows after Contract 3 (quest 75054).
The six trophies#
Active Niter Pot (Attack), Crimson Spar (Critical rate), Stone Grass Ring (Defence), Spellbreaker Runestone (all four resistances), Glistening Mercury (Stamina regeneration) and Seal of Flame (Stamina). Per Trophy list all six are unique, cannot be enhanced or reforged, and are destroyed when the wearer dies.
Price and level table#
The 24 rows are a grid: four Contract tiers times six trophies. The shop always offers exactly one tier: tier 0 until Contract 1, tier 1 after Contract 1, tier 2 after Contract 2, tier 3 after Contract 3. In the shop a trophy is shown as "Name +N" where N = level - 1.
| Tier (Contract stage) | Level shown (journey 1 / 2 / 3 / 4) | Price in Anthozoan Bones (journey 1 / 2 / 3 / 4) |
|---|---|---|
| 0 (rows 10015-10020) | +0 / +1 / +2 / +2 | 33 / 44 / 55 / 66 |
| 1 (rows 10021-10026) | +1 / +2 / +3 / +3 | 44 / 55 / 66 / 88 |
| 2 (rows 10027-10032) | +2 / +3 / +4 / +4 | 55 / 66 / 88 / 111 |
| 3 (rows 10033-10038) | +3 / +4 / +5 / +5 | 66 / 88 / 111 / 150 |
Every one of the six trophies in a tier costs the same. Stock is unlimited, but each trophy is unique (you can hold only one at a time), so in practice you buy one of each when you want it.
Hidden mechanics#
- Level = tier + loop. The trophy level sold is the tier number plus min(journey, 3), so the highest possible is level 6 (+5). Journey 4 sells the same levels as journey 3 but charges more.
- The Contract progress is permanent. The quests 75051-75053 have
NotReset1, so Norwood stays at his highest tier when you start a new journey; it is the journey price column that moves instead. - A new tier removes the old one. Each row has both a "show after" and a "hide after" quest, so doing a Contract does not add rows, it swaps the whole block.
- The only route to +5. Only tier 3 in journey 3 or 4 sells the maximum level (+5, trophy level 6), for 111 or 150 Anthozoan Bones each.
