The light of the Four Holy Pillars of the Blessedland has been fading for more than a decade. A blind old man (named Eckhart in the log) asks you to look into it, and into the secrets of the Church behind it. The Pillars each hide a piece of a black broken sword.
Walkthrough#
- Investigate the Four Holy Pillars (log 21002). Talk to him (the blind old man of Blessedland NPCs#The blind old man); the end of his talk sets flag 65008 and he says he will wait in the chamber of Trinity Hall. Find the four pieces:
- Fragment of the Sword (item 10033)
- Broken Blade (10034)
- Lackluster Handguard (10035)
- Archaic Hilt (10036)
- When all four are held, a dialog option "Put the fragment into it" appears. Choose it: the four parts are removed from the bag and you receive the trophy Blessed Basilisk (60077).
- Information exchange with Eckhart (log 21003). Go back and choose "Show him the sword". The hilt carries an inscription he recognises as proof that the Church lied; he sees a second Divine Sword that absorbs Sendrils and "restrains the light". Afterwards you can ask him three more questions (all optional, each greying out once read).
What he tells you#
The optional questions are all lore: a "betrayal" fifteen years ago was a show staged to hide what was found in the Colossal Grave; only Proxy and Vaillant returned alive; Proxy has not been seen since and a groan is heard from the depths of the Blessedland, because he guards the Seal of Yekub to stop its curse. The full account, topic by topic, is on Blessedland NPCs#The blind old man; for the wider story see Lore.
Hidden mechanics#
- Showing the sword does not consume it. The hand-in step only sets flags (65037 and the Witness flag 95062), so you keep the Basilisk afterwards and can still use it on Die or Become the Sendril.
- The extra questions unlock in order. "Tell me all the things you know" must be read first (flag 65036); "What hell happened fifteen years ago?" and "Proxy didn't show up?" appear after it, and "Leave" is offered once both of those are read.
- The Basilisk is also your key to the Eleanor choice: its first pickup (flag 62302) is what makes the "Use Blessed Basilisk" option appear there.
- The trophy is valued more highly than Tristram's Mercy (crit-damage property 66 against 54), so decide before you spend it; the trade-off is laid out in Die or Become the Sendril#The choice.
